HISTORY AND MISSION

CEQAL was established in 1988 as a reference method laboratory for the standardization of lipid testing in Canada. Since then, we have grown to become a respected authority in the accuracy assessment of healthcare testing worldwide. While the scope of our services has certainly evolved, our mission remains the same: To raise the quality of testing in healthcare to the highest level.

To this end, we now operate many credentialed reference methods and can assign target values to more than 20 analytes covering a wide range of clinical applications. CEQAL is also a member of the Cholesterol Reference Method Laboratory Network (CRMLN) - a group of seven international reference method laboratories established as an accuracy resource for the standardization of lipid testing in North America and internationally. This membership documents the accuracy of our lipid reference methods and establishes traceability to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention - National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (CDC-NHLBI) Lipid Standardization Program.
